WNC Students Attentive to Issues

Speaking to WNC students in Cullowhee, Thursday, May 22, Phillip drove home issues these young registered voters care deeply about.  Affordable higher education drew nods of approval as Phillip talked about his plan for tuition-free higher education and how to pay for it.  A large number of students responded knowingly as he talked about the burden of leaving college with significant debt.

These environmentally conscious future leaders also embraced Phillip’s call for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and replacing them with renewable energy sources.  Many of them hailed from western North Carolina and understood and applauded his emphasis on protecting the unique environment found in the mountains they call home.

Following his remarks, most of the students stayed to discuss vital issues raised by Phillip, both among themselves and with the candidate.
