Phillip Listened at Dunn’s Rock

Thursday, Feb. 22, at the cozy Dunn’s Rock Community Center, Phillip met with a group of vocal  voters.  Many topics were covered during and after Phillip’s brief platform presentation and among those were healthcare, Washington budget priorities, and the need not just for high speed internet in rural areas but better cell phone coverage as well.

While telecoms are raking in record profits, many residents outside towns and cities in western North Carolina cannot get cell phone reception at their homes or while driving on country roads.  Such lack of a coverage not only is an inconvenience, but can also delay first responder and medical emergency personnel.  Hearing that concern, Phillip said Congress–if it had representatives who truly cared about their constituencies–could and should apply pressure to telecom giants to increase cellular coverage in rural areas.

Cedar Mountain Cafe, a popular local restaurant, provided a tasty assortment of finger foods and desserts for the appreciative attendees.
