Cannabis

Cannabis

Back when I was a touring musician, my band played on the steps of the Georgia Capitol in support of legalizing marijuana. Thirty years later, I am ready to take that fight for legalization to Washington as your next Congressman.

Medical Cannabis (Marijuana) has proven successful in treating a variety of illnesses, from reducing pain to easing epileptic seizures and side effects of cancer treatments.  There is some evidence it can reduce opioid abuse and overdoses, which are at epidemic levels today.  Many states have already moved to legalize marijuana for medical or recreational use.  It’s time the federal government did the same.

Beyond medical benefits, cannabis hemp is used in manufacturing as an environmentally friendly replacement for fuel, oil-based plastics, fabrics, paper, nutrition, health and any number of other uses. It’s good not only for the environment, but our economy as well. Cannabis is being farmed, hemp products are being manufactured and retail jobs are being created in Western North Carolina.  Currently, North Carolina is considering a ban on non- THC, smokable hemp flowers which will kill jobs that have been created by the industry. This will only take us backwards.

If my vision reflects your vision, won’t you please volunteer or contribute to our campaign?  Working together, our vision can become reality.
